How do you get from Moscow to Tallinn without flying and without changing buses? Artsantaxi drives you door to door in a single day. The route in figures

Moscow - Tallinn distance via Koidula: about 1025 km.

Travel time: around 10.5-12 hours including the border.

Moscow to Kunichina Gora: about 755 km, 7-8 hours.

Border: 30 minutes to an hour, about 350 metres on foot, the crossing is open from 7:00 to 19:00.

Koidula to Tallinn: about 270 km, around 3 hours.

Price: sedan 650 euros, minivan 820 euros.

Why we drive from Moscow to Tallinn via Koidula, not Narva

The Ivangorod - Narva crossing is right in the town. It is busy with people and buses, queues can be long, and it is hard to say in advance how much time the border will take. After a whole day on the road from Moscow, that is not a risk worth taking.

Kunichina Gora - Koidula lies away from towns, and there are usually few people. The part on foot is short, about 350 metres, and easy to manage with a suitcase. That is why we most often choose this crossing for trips from Moscow to Tallinn.

If you prefer the Shumilkino - Luhamaa crossing, with a terminal and cafe on the Estonian side, see the route Moscow - Tallinn transfer via Pskov and Luhamaa.

A stop in Pechory

Before the border the road runs through Pechory, home to the Pskov-Pechersky Monastery. It has been active since the 15th century and is known throughout Russia. If you would like to see it, tell the driver, the stop is included in the price. Just leave enough time to reach the border before it closes.

Two drivers, one journey

The Russian driver takes you from Moscow along the M-11 Neva toll motorway to Veliky Novgorod, then via Shimsk and Pskov to the border. From Pskov to Koidula it is 60 km. At the Kunichina Gora checkpoint he drops you off at the entrance.

The Estonian driver waits at the exit of the Koidula checkpoint. The drivers stay in touch the whole time: the first one tells the second when you have gone to the checks, so nobody has to look for you. If the border takes longer, they will wait for you at no extra cost. You will get the names and car details before you set off.

Veterinary control works on both sides at all crossings, so if you have a dog or a cat, just mention it when booking.

When to leave Moscow

You set the departure time and the driver adapts. We only advise reaching the border 3-4 hours before it closes at 19:00, so that you can go through the checks calmly.

We pick you up anywhere in Moscow: at home, at a hotel, at Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo or Domodedovo airports or at a railway station, all for one price. If the pickup is far from the centre or in the Moscow region, the manager will give you the exact price straight away.

The option with a train to Pskov

Part of the journey can be done by train. You travel from Moscow to Pskov by rail, arriving in the morning. Our driver is waiting at the station: it is 60 km to the Kunichina Gora - Koidula crossing, with Pechory on the way. After the border a driver from Estonia meets you and takes you to Tallinn. The Pskov to border leg costs 4000 roubles by sedan and 5000 roubles by minivan. For Estonia you pay the same as on the trip from Moscow: 250 euros for a sedan and 320 euros for a minivan.

Where you get out in Tallinn

We drive you to any address in Tallinn, such as your home or hotel, or to Tallinn Airport. If you are going on to Tartu, there is a separate route Tartu - Koidula - Kunichina Gora transfer. Trips in both directions between Tallinn and Moscow are on the page Tallinn ↔ Moscow transfer.
