Tallinn Airport to The Three Sisters Hotel Transfer
The Three Sisters Hotel stands in the northern part of the Old Town, on the corner of Pikk and Tolli streets at Pikk 71. It is about 8.5 kilometres from the airport, and the drive takes 20 to 25 minutes.
Our car pulls up right at the hotel's main entrance. Thanks to our Old Town access permit, we can take you all the way to the door, even along the medieval streets.
The Three Sisters: Merchant Houses from 1362
The hotel occupies three narrow merchant houses that locals have long called the Three Sisters. They were first recorded in 1362, when Tallinn was a wealthy Hanseatic town, and are among the oldest surviving merchant houses in the city. Merchants traded and stored their goods on the lower floors and lived with their families above.
In the 17th century, Jacob Höppener, a merchant from Lübeck, remodelled the houses in Baroque style, and in the 19th and 20th centuries they belonged to the well-known Koch merchant family. For a long time, each of the three sisters led a separate life, until they were finally united as one hotel in 2003.
Five Stars and Royal Guests
Today, The Three Sisters is a five-star hotel with 23 rooms, no two of them alike. The restoration preserved the original timber beams, carved woodwork and ceiling frescoes, and some rooms feature roll-top baths. The hotel is recommended by the Michelin Guide and is a member of Design Hotels.
Guests can dine at Bordoo restaurant, enjoy the wine bar in the cellar or relax at the 3S Bar overlooking Pikk Street. Past guests include Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, as well as the musician Sting.
St Olaf's Tower and the Best View of Tallinn
Just a few steps from the hotel stands St Olaf's Church, with one of the most famous towers in the city. Its viewing platform is 60 metres up, reached by a historic spiral staircase of 258 steps.
The climb is one you will not forget: the staircase is narrow, you hold on to a rope as you go, and in places there is barely room for two people to pass. At the top, you can walk all the way round the tower along the railing, taking in the port, the harbour, the sea and the whole of the Old Town. The viewing platform is open from April to October.
