Direct Transfer from Tallinn via Koidula Checkpoint - Comfortable Travel to Russia Without Delays
The summer holiday season traditionally doubles passenger traffic between Estonia and Russia. This year, however, travellers face a serious challenge that completely disrupts the usual logistics.
From 15 June, the Narva - Ivangorod pedestrian border crossing switches to a strict 12-hour schedule: 07:00 to 19:00. Given that Narva was already drowning in queues before these restrictions, the change during the peak holiday season will inevitably cause massive delays. People will be forced to wait 5 to 8 hours in the open air.
ArtSan Taxi international transfer service offers a comfortable and fully predictable alternative - a door-to-door transfer via the Koidula / Kunicina Gora checkpoint.
Comparing congestion: Narva or Koidula?
From mid-June the situation at border crossings worsens. Narva checkpoint from 15 June: due to reduced hours and a huge influx of pedestrians and scheduled buses, the longest queues in years are expected. Koidula checkpoint: also operates 12 hours (07:00-19:00), but is traditionally far less busy. There is no endless flow of people and customs control takes significantly less time.
Traveller mistake: why you should NOT go via Tartu?
Many people try to save money by flying into Tallinn, taking a bus to Tartu, spending the night there and only travelling to the border the next day. In reality this means transport tickets to Tartu for the whole family, an expensive hotel during peak season, losing an entire day of holiday and dragging heavy luggage at every transfer. It is far more practical to book a direct transfer from Tallinn airport straight to the border - you save on accommodation, arrive rested and reach your destination a full day earlier.
Door-to-door turnkey transfer
Part 1 (Estonia): our driver meets you at Tallinn airport, helps with luggage and drives directly to the Koidula checkpoint. Border crossing on foot: you cross the Estonian and Russian customs (Kunicina Gora) calmly and without queues. Part 2 (Russia): our second car with Russian plates is waiting for you right at the exit of the control zone. We take you to Pskov, St. Petersburg, Moscow or any other address in Russia. Important: the connecting transfer on the Russian side is arranged individually - please notify our manager when placing your order.
Two proven scenarios
Scenario 1 - Daytime arrival (the before 14:00 rule): flight lands no later than 14:00, departure from airport at 14:30, arrival at Koidula checkpoint at 17:30. This leaves 1.5 hours of buffer before the border closes at 19:00.
Scenario 2 - Night arrival: the best travel hack of the season - no need to pay for a Tallinn hotel. We meet you at the airport at night, you sleep comfortably in a business-class vehicle (Lexus, Mercedes E-class or V-class) and arrive at the checkpoint exactly at opening time, 07:00. You are first in line, with no heat and no queues.
