Sagadi Manor is located in Lahemaa National Park and combines historical heritage with the natural beauty of Estonia. It was first mentioned in 1469. The manor is about 90 km from Tallinn, and the drive takes about 1 hour 20 minutes each way.
The tour takes 3 to 5 hours, including the drive there and back and a visit to the manor, which usually takes one to one and a half hours.
Main Building and Interiors
The main building was built in 1753 in the rococo style with elements of early classicism and is one of the rare examples of rococo in Estonia. The interiors have been restored with great attention to detail and convey the atmosphere of past centuries. The hunting hall, with antler furniture and the former owners' collection of hunting weapons, is especially interesting.
Manor Park
The park around the manor is open to the public. It has well-kept flower beds, ponds and forest paths, and a walk here introduces you to the plants of the region.
Sagadi Today
Today Sagadi Manor is a cultural and educational center. It houses a museum, a hotel, a restaurant, a souvenir shop and a Nature School opened in 1999. The manor hosts conferences and educational programs for universities and schools.
Interesting Facts
From 1687 to 1939 the manor belonged to the Swedish von Fock family. Sagadi is one of the few manors in Estonia that stayed in the hands of one family for more than 250 years.
The manor is home to the Forest Museum, where you can learn about the plants and animals of Estonia and the history of forestry.
